Exquisite and Solid Craftsmanship
The NEO X’s solid chassis with aluminium alloy CNC structure, as well as looking great on your media rack or shelf, alludes to just how reliable the media player is. With a net weight of approximately 10kg, the NEO X is a formidable device. The sturdy construction of this unit aids in suppressing resonance from loudspeakers and other external disturbances. This is a design consideration often applied to high-performance amplifiers and audio equipment and is beneficial to this unit. Further supporting the unhindered performance of this player is a set of shock-absorbing foot pads.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that the NEO X lacks subtlety. The panelling has been finished with wire drawing and sandblasting processing, resulting in a detailed, durable surface that is easy on the eyes.
Large OLED Display Panel
The 5-inch OLED HD touch-screen display on the front of the media player makes navigating settings and content menus effortless. Brightness adjustment is available in the device settings in case you need to turn the screen down or off in dark rooms.
Toroidal Linear Power Supplies
The NEO X is equipped with two independent large toroidal transformers. These dual linear power supplies deliver cleaner power for the digital and analog circuits respectively, which improves the purity of all components in the signal chains. Compare this process with traditional laminated steel-core transformers, and it is clear that toroidal power supplies are more efficient and provide stronger power, and also significantly reduce external magnetic field interference, resulting in better audio and video quality.
Large-Capacity Hard Drive Expansion
Built into the side of the NEO X is a 3.5-inch SATA3.0 HDD bay for connecting external storage drives up to 16TB. The hidden side-loading hard drive bay allows you to access all your personal digital content on the NEO X.
For even more expandable storage options, several high-speed USB ports are available on the front and back of the unit.
Powerful Realtek Chipset
The NEO X is equipped with the Realtek 1619 DR A55 Hexa-core 64bit high-performance processor, which has a faster response speed and more efficient computing capability when compared with previous generation Zidoo media players. With a larger bus processor capacity and more efficient response speed and calculation, the NEO X ensures excellent audio and video playback and can handle any application you throw at it.
Selected HiFi Components
In order to achieve the desired level of audio quality with lower distortion, the NEO X implements a split immersion gold circuit design and carefully selected components. Featuring high-quality German and Japanese filter capacitors and relays, every detail and component comes together to improve the audio quality.
ES 9038 Pro Flagship DAC Chip
The NEO X features the ES9038 PRO 32-bit HyperStream audio decoding chip, which is the flagship ESS PRO and the current industry benchmark. With an impressive dynamic range of 140dB, this high-quality digital audio processing chip empowers an intoxicating sonic experience in every use.
XMOS Audio Interface and USB DAC
Equipped with the ES9038 PRO DAC and XMOS chips, the NEO X surpasses traditional sound cards and can be used as a high-resolution USB DAC. The USB input supports up to 768kHz/32bit PCM and DSD512 decoding.
Monitor-level Audio Quality
In addition to the industry-leading chips present, the NEO X also includes several high-end designs, such as full balanced multi-stage filter circuits, HiFi components processing and professional hardware calibration. Ultra-high Signal-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 118dB, -128dB Crosstalk and ultra-low distortion greatly reduces background noise and delivers a purer sound.
4K UHD Image Quality
NEO X adopts advanced image decoding and processing technology. The Zidoo NEO X image engine and Hexa-core A55 processor can easily decode 4K HDR images encoded with HEVC/H.265 standards. Supporting Dolby Vision processing, BT.2020 wide colour range, and 3840 x 2160 60Hz output, each pixel appears natural, and images are clear and vivid even on a large screen.
Stunning HDR Technology
A new HDR VS10 processing engine produces colour contrast that is incredibly defined, ensuring both highlights and shadows are displayed perfectly and delivering images that are much closer to the true to life scene.
Conversely, the NEO X supports HDR to SDR conversion, meaning you can display HDR movies very well on SDR screens via dynamic correction and colour reproduction.
Higher Level HDR10+
The Zidoo NEO X takes the lead in providing HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technology in a media player/streaming device. HDR10+ technology is capable of not only displaying peak brightness up to 4000 nits, but also processing metadata accurately for each frame. Namely, colours and brightness levels are obtained frame by frame and scene by scene, images could be displayed in details with wide dynamic contrast and richer colours.
Advanced Dolby Vision VS10 Technology
In addition to supporting native Dolby Vision decoding and output, NEO X is also equipped with Dolby VS10 commercial image processing engine. Dolby Vision has adopted advanced dynamic metadata processing technology so that the most suitable brightness could be output for images and scenes of each frame. Shadows are darker while highlights are brighter. Even in the dark and weak-light environment, it also displays the best visual effect.
No matter the format (Dolby Vision, HDR, HLG, SDR, etc.) display device (TV, projector, monitor, etc.), or whether the NEO X is outputting HDR or SDR, colours are accurate for an incredibly immersive experience.

12Bit Colour Depth
The NEO X’s new image engine not only supports 10 Bit (approximately 1.07 billion colours) decoding and outputting at the resolution of 4K 60Hz, but also supports a higher colour depth of 12 bit (approximately 68 billion colours); 12 bit has much more vibrant colours and more natural colour transitions.
Wider Colour Range
The NEO X supports BT.2020 wide colour range which can display 75% of perceivable nature colours and closer to what human eyes could see, while traditional BT.709 can only display 35% of natural colours. This results in bright and eye-catching colours, rich and full images, and a better sense of space, three dimensions and layering.
Accurate Frame Rate Switching
The NEO X supports switching original resolution and frame rate automatically and accurately (23.976, 59.94, 25, 30, 50, and 60). The new automatic switching algorithm allows completing the film frame rate switching in advance to ensure smooth and integral film playback.
Surround Audio Formats
The NEO X not only supports hi-fidelity stereo analog audio output, but also supports digital source-quality output of Dolby and DTS advanced surround audio formats. Enjoy your favourite entertainment with immersive multi-channel surround sound.
MQA Audio Decoding
NEO X supports MQA audio format with full-spec hardware decoding and can obtain the highest decoding and output level.
MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) MQA is an award-winning British technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. The master MQA file is fully authenticated and is small enough to stream or download. NEO X adopts MQA technology to receive and decode MQA audio and provide master-level sound.
High-Performance Headphone Amplifier
For the NEO X, Zidoo has designed a monitor-level headphone amplifier output module. With both 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm headphone connections on the front of the unit, you can connect high-performance headphones for personal monitoring. With linear amp circuit balanced design, multi-stage operational amplifier, selected resistance and strict calibration, the NEO X’s performance is comparable to desktop headphone power amplifiers. The NEO X’s powerful amplification capabilities and two gain modes will drive even the most demanding headphones.
Full Balanced Preamp Output
NEO X adopts a fully balanced design for internal analog audio signal processing. All signals from DAC to Analog output ports are all transmitted in a balanced mode. This ensures better noise immunity and enhanced audio quality.
High-precision Femtosecond Dual Audio Clock
NEO X audio decoding circuit adopts two American ACCUSILICON high-precision femtosecond active crystal oscillators. 44.1KHz and 48KHz multiplier sampling effectively reduces jitter and ensures accuracy of audio decoding.
Easy Connection with Different Input Source
The NEO X features multiple digital input ports including Coaxial, AES/EBU, and a USB DAC input. Diversity of connections means the NEO X can be used with traditional CD players, PCs, digital decoders, and more.
Master Tape Music Playback and Decoding
As a music digital decoder, the NEO X supports super high sample-rate master tape and lossless formats. Support for CD-quality lossless formats include FLAC, WAV, APE, DTS, etc. The NEO X also supports advanced master tape audio formats including DSD512 (SACD ISO/DFF/DSF/DSD), and MQA. For CD playback and ripping, an external CD-ROM reader should be connected.
Filtering Modes and Personalized EQ Selection
The NEO X offers a variety of digital filtering presets to meet different listening needs and preferences, including 7 types of PCM filters and 4 types of DSD high-pass filters. Fine-tune the audio profile of your space by making personalized EQ adjustments.
Dual-Band WiFi
The NEO X has a built-in 2.4G + 5G dual-band 2R2T MIMO WIFI module with a wireless transmission rate of up to 867Mbps. With its high-gain antennas, it can avoid interference and maintain a stable and high-speed connection even in a harsh network environment.
Qualcomm CSR8675 Lossless Bluetooth Input
NEO X can connect with smartphones and other wireless devices easily via Bluetooth, in order to enjoy music conveniently at CD quality. Qualcomm’s flagship BT chip CSR8675 module supports lossless audio compression. SBC/AAC/aptX/aptX LL/aptX HD/LDAC are also supported.
Professional Decoder and Powerful Music App
The digital audio decoder system supports decoding and playback of almost all audio formats. Add music across multiple devices to the music player for convenient shared management. The NEO X matches and generates music library databases automatically, so you can focus on enjoying your music collection.
Online Music Streaming Services
NEO X supports online music streaming. Music can be pushed to the NEO X from mobile devices on the same network via AirPlay, Spotify, and DLNA.
Smooth Blu-ray Seamless Branching Playback
The NEO X optimizes the video playback engine, which improves the Blu-ray seamless branching playback and says goodbye to stuttering and messy playback issues. BD and UHD Blu-ray navigation are played just like enjoying movies in a cinema.
Poster Wall
The NEO X comes with new movie posters management system. It has concise navigation, personalised categories, record viewing custom collections, etc. It makes movie collections more convenient and greatly improves the efficiency of mass movies management.
ZIDOO Controller App
Use the ZIDOO Controller App to control media players seamlessly on the same network. Home Theatre and Music Player can be set on your smartphone without suspending AV playback. Turn on the media player and begin playing music without needing to turn on your TV or display monitor first, all with the ZIDOO Controller App.
Network Sharing Protocols
The NEO X supports Gigabit network transmission. It can access NAS servers on the same network via NFS, SMB v1/v2/v3, UPnP, FTP network protocols. What’s more, the SMB sharing function can share files from a hard drive connected to the NEO X with other devices.
Smart Control System
Apart from ZIDOO Controller smartphone APP, Zidoo also supports HTTP (standard WOL are supported), RS232, HDMI CEC, Bluetooth and IR control methods for smart control system. Trigger control can be used for turning on/off the whole audio system easily by one key.
